Following a lecture given to a jogging club in Chicago, one experienced runner questioned Master Chang.
He asked, “If attacked, you said that you would run away. I don’t study meditation or martial arts, but I would also run away. How are we different?”
“The difference,” Master Chang responded, “is that afterwards, I will be able to eat my breakfast!"

I joined Chang's Hapkido Academy about three years ago. I attend many of Master Chang's Ki seminars and lately I have been going to Ki classes.

I have a hectic working life: I have to deal with difficult situations and deadlines, which requires 100% focus. I find going to Ki class in the morning before going to work allows me to concentrate fully, as well as be at ease with myself and others. It has made me more aware of my emotions and how to keep them under control. I also used to be very anxious when I had to speak in public - thanks to Ki Meditation I am learning to overcome my fear, control my nerves and stay calmer. Spending time in Ki class and focusing on mind and soul lets me face the world positively.
